MarinePure Sphere

As you would know, i previously tried out the MarinePure cinder block and i rate it way better than my ex number one choice Biohomme plus. Today i am running 12 cinder blocks in one of my tanks and i am planning to gradually add these sphere to all my cannister filter. The sphere actually cost more than the block, no idea why probably the more troublesome manufacturing process. Lets hoipe its as good as the cinder block version

How often do you see fucktards with those cheapskate smartphone car mount bought from dubious ah beng from some cheap fuck shop?  All the time! its just an embarrassing piece of shit hanging in the car and makes you look fucked! well, you could pay a bit more and still get the same looking shit but with industrial quality silicon and better finishing. 

The thing is, we need a way better product, something sleek, minimal and functional. the very mantra that guides the ipod, iphone and ipad.. So finally i found a a nice mount and i am sure there could be better ones out there and until then, this piece of equipment is staying in my car. just a mere $43 and you are a fucktard no more!

CerMedia- MarinePure Biofilter Media

It has been sometime since i bought new media to try. Currently my system uses Biohomme Plus, Eheim substrat pro, biomech and Lav. On the pond, i uses bacteria-house taro rolls.These current set up is as good as it gets and the water quality is pristine. 

Of course what attracted me to this new product was the recommendation on certain forum in US about its effectiveness and most importantly its modular shape. All my media are loose forming and have to be housed in nets stacked in the sump or media housing. This one however comes in a squarish cinder block and have a variety of sizes. no need for any net but you would still need a mechanical filter on top of it.

So far i tried it for one month and i must say the results are quite impressive and certainly impressive enough to surpass the king of media- Biohomme plus. As for the price of $60 SGD for an 8x8x4 block, it is pretty pricey. of course it is a relative new product and if well received, we should see prices at around $48. It is currently running in a 1200L tank with an 400L sump. Fish load is 18 large clown loach. The trick to this media is that the surface bacteria does the job before passing it to the internal bacteria of the media. check out literature on anaerobic bacteria dynamics and you will know what i am talking about. It is extremely porous and you could literally blow your breath through the block!

So my verdict is ...I will add  3 more Marine Pure to my system because of its attractive modular shape and its more than reasonable effectiveness as compared to my usual setup. Here are the pictures

Added another router- Asus RT-AC68U

Today i upgraded my main router to the Asus RT-AC68U and use my Linksys AC1900 to be an extender. The performance is impressive on the Asus but i still plan to use another firmware for this model.

Well the reason i am upgrading is because i am now on VQ 1Gpbs plan and i am in the process of turning all the switches in the house to smart switches using App enabled controls to activate devices and program routine. All from the iPhone or android

And on a side note, i managed to solve the issue i have in getting my new monitor to display 2560 X1440 (1440p). come on 1080P are for third world donkeys these days. i search for this adapter for days and no one in SIM LIM and i mean no one is high tech enough to warrant a consumer demand for this product. what a shame!

Synology DS414 + 4x WesternDigital RED 4 TB HDD $1.7k

So my new gadget for the month is a brand new NAS. Yes yes yes! i have finally chuck that old Buffalo NAS i bought 3 years ago and gone with the state of the art Synology brand. And yes the main use of it is to store my humongous collection of Japanese porn. Lets face it, all men love porn! bent men like gay porn, straight like straight porn.

the DS414 comes with 1MB Ram and an Intel Armada processor, technically it is like a stand alone PC with processing power so it can continue it's multitude of function when you turn your PC off. NAS can host stuff like your website, your e commerce site, your directory server, mail server, open ERP, DDNS and the list just goes on. But hey! mine is only there to host porn and nothing else! maybe some movie too but heck!

My set up is 4 bay on 4 Western Digital 4TB RED HDD which means i am on 16 TB of storage. However after running RAID, i am probably down with 10-12TB. So whats RAID? For the uninitiated, RAID is a type of file system used to control multiple HDD which have failure recovery option. This means if 1-2 of your 4 HDD fail, you can simply replace the HDD and the RAID system will rebuild your data! No more sacrificing your porn! or backing up your external HDD! 

Having NAS on Raid is simply the gold standard for a porn library. the next step would be to upgrade your NAS using full SSD. the budget for that would be around $5.6k base on current prices. My current set up with HDD is a mere $1.7k, but of course SSD never breaks down because it has no moving parts and the speed is 30 times faster than your 7200RPM HDD assuming your SSD is a samsung PRO series
