My New Planted Scape (cheating)

Got bored with the planted tank as some cabomba keep growing until the whole tank is like a maze for the fish and some yellowing cabomba are making the tank messy. I just don't have the effort to take good care of  a real planted tank, so i just buy ready assembled plants, hide them in the ADA soil, on the light and CO2 and that's it. i don't bother to take any readings. So far so good, guess i chose the easy plants eh. LOL

SICCE Voyager 4 and Arcadia Blue LED sumersible

Got myself some new gadgets again. Someone recommend i get a wavemaker for my freshwater recently. Apparently while a wavemaker is not essential in freshwater, it is a fancy equipment that is good to have. provide healthy water flow, allow high current fish to swim against it and best of all keep the aquarium floor clean as i have overflow sump, so the craps get push up and into the sump. I must say i am more than satisfied with the quality of my voyager 4. Nice design, powerful magnet with O ring, great flow and my stingray loves it. $210. it is a value buy, forget the china wavemaker please!

Next up is this Arcadia submersible blue Led light. Had some 5 ft Arcadia lights a few years back and was happy with it so when i saw this gadget by Arcadia, i cannot resist. Quite expensive for a single led but i  am glad the risk was worth it. $42 for one. I bought 3. one for the planted tank, 2 for the Koi tank. The lumen power is amazing, how much lumen exactly,  the packaging never indicate but it is only 1W

This gadget is a good add on to whatever professional lighting you guys have, flexible as well, you can use it submerged or on the surface. yah i know, those of u using $4k Giesemann lighting must be thinking this is kids stuff but like i say it is an add on. you know this directed at you Mr L, haha. Anyway check out the pics

My new Juvenile Harlequin sweetlips and blue damsel

Got myself a bigger fish after my damsel went right from the plastic bag and into the Lionfish stomach. The bugger was so fast i didn't even get a chance to see the blue damsel swim in the tank. Money down the drain immediately.  Having learnt my lesson, i went back and bought some more Damsel but this time they are put into the coral tank with all the smaller fish and lots of hiding place. Together with the purchase is a rather dull colour starfish and a goby.

The bigger fish i am talking about is the juvenile Harlequin sweetlips. on first look, it look just like a fancy clownfish except it got more patterns and is much bigger. very adorable name and it is swimming well in the tank, the lionfish is not gobbling up this one.

Black Diamond Lantern and Brunton Lighters

You know i love gadget, i love the overkill, the design, the quality workmanship and most important of all, i love the uncommonness of it all. Only gadgets that fits the above few criteria are worthy of being collected.

I went to a fancy upmarket outdoor store recently and was tempted enough to buy2 such items. money down the drain again, it usually is with my gadget purchase, i hardly get to use them in the manner they were design to perform but yet i always cook up some reasonable excuse for myself to acquire it.

today i am introducing to you the "Black Diamond" brand of LED lantern. For those well versed with the outdoor world, you will know black diamond is a branded company in the field. this particular lantern glow at 250 Lumen! for hours using just 4D battery. It is wild if you compare it with your regular torchlight or maglite but underpowered when we bring tactical torchlight into the picture. those 1000lumens torchlight are more like portable flash bomb on the go. $155 sgd inclusive of GST for the black diamond lantern.

The second one is a total waste of money for me, i am almost tempted to pick up smoking just to use this fantastic lighter. this one is the Brunton made windproof, storm proof lighter. it can light up at wind speed up to 128km/hr. Hong Kong smokers should have this essential lighter for getting their daily dose of cancer under typhoon. how cool is that! lighting up at typhoon winds for a cigarette. $125 for it

Magnavore- the ultimate magnet cleaner

Hi guys, i am sure everyone of us hate to clean the tank! we want nice looking tanks and healthy fish but want to avoid doing the tedious work as much as possible. unless you are a billionaire that could employ a team of biologist, professional cleaners and so on to maintain your tank, you just got to find time and get down and dirty. cleaning the glass tank is like maintaining a relationship with an attractive girl. you want the sex  but you don't want to spend the time and effort. too bad dude! such ideal arrangement is only possible if she is a prostitute.

so back to the topic, today i am going to introduce you something to make your life easier, it is called the Magnavore cleaning magnet. ya ya ya, you will probably think it is just another of those blue and white china made magnet that always drop off or constantly need you to scrub like an idiot. seems like everything that is china made for aquaria are total bullshit. well fret not, this is the US made real deal, you can finish an eight ft tank in less than a minute! one swipe and it is crystal clear. the secret lies in the magnetic power!

you got to use one to believe how strong this cleaner is. i am a big guy and i need to use some brute strength to separate the 2. this is my 2nd magnavore, the first being a 8ER which i have been using for 2 years now. my friend was amazed recently and he says he never heard of this stuff before. so i am blogging now so you guys can have a easier job. i decided to bite the bullet and order a 4 ER ($140) for my smaller tanks, the 8er is simply too strong for them, i am afraid the glass might crack. the 4ER which will suit most tank owners as it will take glass thickness of up to 18mm. however i recommend to 14mm max, 18mm and up should get the 6er at $199

Yes it is costly at $140 but it is a good investment, the cleaning pads are replaceable for just under $20 and the magnet should last you decades. Most LFS doesn't carry this expensive equipment, you can always order from the LFS or get it online. i got mine at reefsystem online.

My New $280 Giant Pleco

Been eyeing this bugger for quite some time at C328, the colour always remind me of a Military Tank especially the light yellow rim of it tails. Finally decided to spend $280 for this bugger. despite it armoured appearance, it is actually quite a peaceful pleco. oh yah, i forgot it Lxxx classification.

Bue lobster Molting

Simply unbelievable, well i mean i have seen my crystal red, yellow and Yamato Molt and they are nothing surprising. But to see the 6 inch blue lobster molt to such detail is amazing, i almost thought i found the corpse of the blue lobster but was shocked when i see another"one" hiding behind the rocks, than only it hit me, the bugger just molted! here are the pictures. first molt since i bought it for 2 months.
