Yup! the consumer in me strikes again. A reluctant shopaholic, i bought an unnecessary Bluetooth keyboard for my smart TV simply because it is made by Samsung for Samsung and i am attracted to that SMART HUB logo. It just goes in Sync

New upgrades to mobile data devices

Just upgraded the whole lot of media devices and threw the old ones away. Ever since i have a few bad experience of giving my old stuff (GPS for one) to undeserving people who like to show me they are able to make better use of it and enjoy the savings of buying a new one, i decided to throw away all my usable stuff if i dont use. 

Rather than benefiting anyone and absolutely no charity. i destroy them before i throw, just in case any cheapskate is lurking at the dump area.

Got mine form the xiaomi website in HK. a truly value buy and i am on cloud TV most of the time when i am in chill mode.

ExoGear- The world best Vehicle Mount

This monster mounts on any surfaces. Concrete wall, wood, trees, bricks, poles and so on. The last time i was impressed by a product of this versatility was the Joby Gorillapod which i have quite a few.

I got mine from Hong Kong at the airport yesterday.

Went ahead and bought an additional APC back up for my 2nd synology server. Good value at $330. Our offices run the big time APC for our 22 servers and it is ""the brand" for reliability..

My new Samsung 4K resolution UHD TV and Soundbar-$2498

All that talk about the new 4k resolution and how netflix is among the first provider to stream in 4K are getting into my weak consumer mind here. I visited the viewqwest showroom and saw how bloody clear 4k is despite them using their crappy android TV box which i also happen to own one no thanks to my bundle subscription with them.

So my new gadget for October would be the new 4k TV. Best denki happen to run a renovation sale and while i am sure the case for electronics is all the same, prices come down fast! so whatever great deal one might think they have are probably a fleeting mind scape. 

So anyway i got this Samsung 40 inch UHD at a reasonable price of $1799. Well according to the absurd list price, it was going for $2299 and the sales guy assure me i was getting a good deal. 

yeah right.. so while i am at it, i pick up an entry level Samsung sound bar for $699. I mean i am no audiophile but the last time i want is messy speaker cable all over the place i need my mobile devices to be able to link up to the sound bar. things like hand-phone, synology media server and so on. The Samsung sound bar did all that and comes with a gigantic wireless sub-woofer.

The new Corporate phone- Return of the blackberry

Years before i retired at the tender age of 28, i was in banking and specifically front office functions. not the paper grinding or compliance fussing back office nor the sitting around analysing bullshit middle office. I do deals and i have direct access to market making computers in the bank or fund houses i work for. 

Those days, our handy assistant is the blackberry, a mark of success to other but a mark of mediocrity for me. it tells people you are on call 24 hrs, you got no life and you are probably in banking!

Those days, my scroll button was still on the side and it was one hell of a solid reliable phone. 

So these days, i am running my own firm and my business partner and i decide that we will bring back the blackberry considering it was so beaten down by consumers, i personally test use a few models and i think the Z30 stands out! retail for 499 USD from Amazon and comes feature pack for business plus it is well made with the right weight on the palm.

Most importantly their enterprise software(additional cost) provide us with great control and security over phones that are registered on our corporate network. Something the iPhone and normal android don't provide. So right now i decided to issue the Z30 to all the key guys in the firm and i am happy to say the Z30 is totally unavailable in Singapore, not even via parallel importer so only a few of us will be sporting this bad-ass and the nostalgia it brings.
